We are committed to helping more people experience and enjoy Dartmoor.
Through targeted funding from Defra’s Breaking Down Barriers in Protected Landscapes programme, we have been able to improve access across the National Park and create more opportunities for people to connect with nature and the outdoors.
Improving access
Working with partners, we have delivered a range of improvements, including replacing stiles with accessible gates, resurfacing paths, installing inclusive picnic facilities and expanding access to our popular Tramper network.
Two Trampers are now available to hire from Postbridge Visitor Centre for use on the Bellever Forest Tramper Trail.
Miles Without Stiles
These improvements form part of our Miles Without Stiles network, a collection of accessible, stile-free routes designed to suit a range of abilities and mobility levels.
Routes are graded to help visitors choose the option that’s right for them, taking into account factors such as distance, surface condition and gradient.
Accessible Dartmoor
By improving access and reducing barriers, we are helping more people discover Dartmoor’s landscapes, wildlife and heritage, and enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits that time spent in nature can bring. Find out more on our Accessible Dartmoor page.
